Privacy policy
This is a plain-language summary of how Ledger collects and uses personal information, in line with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
What we collect
- Toolkit data (salary, budget categories, tax inputs, savings goals): stored only in your browser's local storage, on your own device. It is never sent to us or to any server — we have no way to see it.
- Email address: only if you sign up for provisional tax deadline reminders. This is the only personal information that leaves your device.
Why we collect it
Your email is used for exactly one purpose: sending you reminders ahead of the SARS provisional tax deadlines (31 August and 28 February). We don't use it for anything else, and we don't sell or share it with advertisers.
Who processes it
Email signups are handled through MailerLite, our email service provider, acting as our processor. Signups use double opt-in — you'll receive a confirmation email and won't be added to the list until you click it.
Your rights
- You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any reminder email.
- You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your email record by contacting us (see below).
- Toolkit data never leaves your device, so you control it directly — clearing your browser data or using the in-app "Reset all data" button removes it completely.
Retention
Email addresses are kept for as long as you remain subscribed, or until you ask us to delete them.
